The Crusader Church of St Anne (12th century AD), which stands on land purchased by the Custody of the Holy Land in 1841, is located in Sepphoris, capital of Galilee at the time of Jesus.
According to an apocryphal tradition, this is the town of Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary. The feast of these two saints was celebrated here on July 26th.
Today, the Congregation of the Incarnate Word, through its monks, guards this holy place, which fills up with worshippers from Nazareth and the surrounding area every year for this feast.
