A conference will be dedicated to Antonio Barluzzi next Tuesday, 14th December, at 5.00 p.m. at St. Saviour, the seat of the Custody of the Holy Land in Jerusalem.
The Italian architect is universally known for his churches which stand on some of the most important sanctuaries in the Holy Land: Mount Tabor, Gethsemane, Mount of the Beatitudes, Bethania, Shepherds’ Field and others. On the 50th anniversary of his death, the life and work of Antonio Barluzzi (1884-1960) will be discussed by two Italian experts who with great passion are working on a book on him.
The personal story of Barluzzi, his temperament and his spirituality, as well as the world and period in which he lived, will be presented by Giovanni Maria Secco Suardo, an expert on him and friend of the family.
The architect Giovanna Franco Repellini will speak about the architectural forms of Barluzzi’s buildings, which are works of considerable artistic and cultural interest and translate the divine substance of the mysteries of Christ into visual matter. The exhibition organized by the Christian Information Center will extend the commemoration of the architect A. Barluzzi who made the sanctuaries of the Holy Land the mission of his life.
