Gathered for the triennial chapter, the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land have elected on Tuesday, July 12th, the Custodial Vicar.
It is Brother Dobromir Jasztal that was elected. His term of office is six years. He was renewed in the position which he held since July 2013.
The Custodial Vicar is the right arm of the Custos of the Holy Land and a member of right of the Curia, the government of the Custody.
His election will be followed tomorrow by that of discrete of the Holy Land.
Fra Dobromir Jasztal
Of Polish nationality, he was born in 1966. He entered the Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Poland) in 1982. He made his solemn profession in 1989 and was ordained priest in 1992. He entered the service of the Custody of the Holy Land that same year.
Fra Dobromir is a professor of canon law at the Studium Theologicum at Saint Savior monastery in Jerusalem. Custodial Bursar from 2007 to 2010, he has since been the Guardian of Saint John in Ain Kerem.
Fra Dobromir speaks Polish and Italian.
