“To change the world and make the desert blossom, the action of God must be respected. You have to plan the future leaving room for the action of God, like John the Baptist who wanted to be diminished so that Christ could grow.”
With these and other words, Father Artemio Vitores, the auxiliary Custos, addressed Father Najib Ibrahim and Father Vittorio Bosello during the celebration that marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of their ordination as presbyters, held on Sunday 12th December in the Church of the Flagellation in Jerusalem. It was an invitation to look more towards the future than to the past, but without forgetting the marvels and the joys that the Lord has done through them in these years of priestly vocation and mission: “Today we are pleased as well for the many things that you have given us, you have to thank the Lord for calling you to the priesthood and for the gift of your fidelity.” Mass was concelebrated by many brothers and friends who had come for the occasion.
Father Ibrahim Najib, fifty-five years old and from Lebanon, was master of the novices of the Custody for nine years and then parish priest and head teacher in Jaffa, superior in Harissa and in Bet Hanina, editor of the Arabic Holy Land magazine; he is currently superior of the convent of the Flagellation and teaches Holy Scripture at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum.
Father Vittorio Bosello is sixty and has been in service in the Holy Land since 1985, coming from the Province of the Friars Minor of Bologna; very sought after as a guide of the Holy Land, Father Vittorio has been director of Casa Nova in Bethlehem, director of the Franciscan Printing Press and president of the Holy Sepulchre; he currently performs his activity living in the convent of St. Saviour in Jerusalem.
