"The way to peace is not words, discussions.
It is a long path that we travel without complaining.
It is a path that all intelligent people follow.
On it, hearts forget faults, forget tears."

"The Way to Peace" is just one of the 13 original songs that will be heard during the annual "The Magic Lamp" concert of Arabic children's songs, an Arabic version of the international competition, "Zecchino d'Oro" (Golden Coin), completely produced and performed by the Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem. The ninth consecutive concert in the series will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013, in the auditorium of Saint Saviour Monastery in Jerusalem at 6:00 PM (free entrance). The other songs touch on subjects closely linked to children's lives, beginning with mothers (to whom two songs are dedicated), and continuing through games, spring time, and road safety, an important subject that returns each year.

The songs will be interpreted by the youngest pupils of the Magnificat, that is the Yasmeen Buds Choir and the Magnificat Spring Orchestra, with the participation of other Jerusalem schools (Holy Land School, Saint Joseph School and the school of the Sisters of Pilar), who will present a little theatrical piece on the themes addressed by the songs. The texts are by Salameh Riskalla, Mohammed Abi-Azem, Sidki Shukri, Ahmad Sawalha, Sliman Al-Issa, Adrian Ziad Haddad; music is by Mirjam Younan, Rida Mabjeesh et Adrian Ziad Haddad; arrangements by Father Armando Pierucci.

The orchestra was rehearsed by the Magnificat’s Robert Canetti and Bella Pogosov, and the choir by Mirjam Younan. The artistic director is Hani Kreitem, who will provide the piano accompaniment, and guest musician Evgeny Ratner will play the trumpet. The evening will be presented by Eman Al Qassem Suleiman, a celebrated Palestinian radio journalist.

The Magic Lamp is not only a concert but an initiative of the Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem involving all phases of the artistic, educational, and production activities — research, composition, arrangement, production, publication, teaching, performance, and promotion of original pieces for children, to provide schools with educational material (arrangements and songs) to use in class. The event was made possible thanks to the Italian Cooperation for Development – AVSI.
