In Tabgha the ceremony of the blessing of the plaque, placed during the “Pilgrimage for Peace in the Holy Land” promoted by UNITALSI

On Saturday the 26th of January 2013, at 11 00 a.m. in the Franciscan Convent of Saint Peter's Primacy in Tabgha, the ceremony of the blessing of the UNITALSI Pilgrimage Memorial Plaque took place.

In the presence of local religious authorities and Roman civil authorities, the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, uncovered the marble plaque, in remembrance of the “Pilgrimage for Peace in the Holy Land”, promoted by the UNITALSI subsection in Rome.

The blessing ceremony was celebrated by Msgr. Giuseppe Lazzarotto, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy Land , Msgr. Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, Auxiliary Bishop, Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Wojciech Boloz, the Convent Guardian and other Franciscans of the Custody.

For the City of Rome Capital and UNITALSI (National Italian Union transportation of the sick to Lourdes and International Sanctuaries), it was a symbolic act to seal a "sister city" with this site, to which Jesus gave the apostle Peter the mandate to found His Church and the city See of the pope.



After the blessings, the greetings from the local religious authorities, civil authorities from Rome and the UNITALSI representatives were exchanged.

At the end of the ceremony, a cordial sharing moment, taking part in the pleasant reception which was organized by the friars of the convent.

The mayor only took part at the first days of the pilgrimage while the Patrimony and Politics of the House of Rome Assessor, Lucia Funari, with other eighty pilgrims, of which many are volunteers, UNITALSI disabled and friends, will continue according to program, accompanied by father Gianni Toni.

The pilgrimage will stop at each symbolic Christian place, ending on the 31st of January, with the visit of the city of Jerusalem.
